Kristi spent over ten years working at the largest book publisher in the world before deciding to leave her director-level position and launch a full-time freelance career in 2013.

As a freelance editor, Kristi’s projects have received starred reviews from Library Journal and Publishers Weekly; have been nominated for Goodreads Choice Awards, National Readers’ Choice Awards, RT Reviewers’ Choice Awards, RWA RITA® and Golden Heart® Awards; have won a National Readers’ Choice Award; as well as hit the Amazon, iBooks, New York Times, Publishers Weekly, USA TODAY, and Wall Street Journal best-seller lists.

The wife of a tech guru and mom of three sons (a tween, preteen, and teen—oh my!), Kristi enjoys escaping into the fantasy worlds, mystery, and romance she is honored to edit. She also dabbles in graphic design and always has a salty snack nearby.

editing philosophy

Kristi firmly believes a developmental editor’s job is to help writers uncover their best story and discover how they can tell it in the most compelling way.

With an emphasis on character development, page-turning pacing, and realistic dialogue, Kristi’s edits “see the trees through the forest” of a manuscript, honing in on a writer’s vision for their story and helping them enhance it by pointing out areas of both strength and weakness.

Edits by Kristi’s goal is to provide honest, constructive, practical feedback that best serves each story and its characters while never intruding on a writer's voice.
